We live in a “bigger is better” world. The truth could not be more different. The reason why we have autoimmune disease, and food allergies and intolerances can be directly connected to either eating too much or too little of certain foods. The best examples of this are diabetes in America, and dairy intolerance in Asia. We eat too much simple sugar, and too much food in general. We therefore get fat, and unable to process sugar in our blood. Asian communities that do not use dairy products naturally have developed a digestive system that does not digest or absorb lactose (the primary sugar in Dairy products)
So, living in moderation becomes essential to our survival and longevity. Eating a little of everything, and not a lot of one thing will enhance your health. Plain and simple. A well balanced diet can mean many things, but I am simply referring to eating many different types of foods.
We don’t want to tell you how to live your life, but cereal, pizza, ceaser salad, and bud light does not exactly mean well balanced. Get out, and try some new things. Being stubborn with your diet is plain stupid (unless you only like lean meats, fruits, nuts, and veggies.) Then by all means, stay stubborn. Branch out a little. Eating healthy dies not mean eating more raw veggies, and eating more chicken. Eating healthy means finding whole grains, good meats, and good fats from a variety of sources. We are willing to bet that there are literally hundreds if dishes from foods around the world that are easy to prepare, and good for you.
Here are some examples:
Couscous and Lemon Zest with fresh pressed olive oil.
Avacado breaded and baked with a chipotle and blue cheese dip.
Smoked Salmon on a Bagel with light whipped cream cheese, onion and tomato slices to top.
Homemade Pizza with whole wheat dough, pesto, fresh mozzarella, and tomato slices
Potato Pancakes (fried in olive oil) with pork roast and sourkraut (beer good here)
Shoot… you can even make your own sushi….
The possibilities are endless. Post your favorite recipe below, and help eachother eat better!
