Ok, this may seem a bit outlandish, but it does seem like there has been a rise in both shark attacks and shark sightings on the west coast (especially in San Luis Obispo County). Now, let me begin by stressing the fact that you are more likely to be killed by a falling coconut then be dined on by a great white shark (by no means is that a real fact). Obviously, your chance of being attacked is greatly increased by your commitment to swimming in the ocean, however there is no statistic known to mankind that will help predict that. So, there is no need to lose sleep over it.

My point for writing this post is to remind you that your fear of sharks is irrational. The mere fact that you climb into a car everyday is reason enough for my point (cars kill a bit more often then sharks). You should enjoy the ocean, not fear it. Think of all the poor souls in Indiana that never even see the ocean!
