Ok, this may be a stretch on the survival category, but it is a legit problem in today’s world. One of the greatest tests of human athletic achievement is currently tarnished beyond recognition. So, what are we cycling fans to do about it? It may take literally a decade until the yellow jersey is once again considered a gown of the gods, and not a target for allegations of cheating and misconduct. As fans we must look forward and put these dark days behind us. We should embrace those that humble themselves before the media, and applaud their honesty. They are the true heroes of our time, and the athletes that will help bring honesty and integrity back to arguably the greatest sporting event on the planet. It is my humble opinion that an athlete willing to take lashes for his mistakes is twice the man that hides, or worse, points a finger with spite. For that, we should support them.
