Ok, this is purely a dramatization of course, however TV does have a profound negative impact on our lives. As the great Louise Black says, “TV has allowed complete idiots the ability to look justified. You can actually have a debate on television about the true existence of the Holocaust. On one side is a nobel winning historian, and the other side a lunatic. The fact that they sit together and debate actually justifies the argument.” Ouch!
I hate to burst everyone’s bubble today, but guess what? Just because you see it on TV, does not mean it is even remotely true. Thank goodness for programming like the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. They are sometimes slapstick, but for a majority of the time they attack modern TV with candid satire. If you don’t think those shows are funny, then I suggest you stop taking yourself so seriously before you have a stroke.
Even the more reputable stations, like Discovery Channel, have become tainted in the media. It was recently released that “Man VS Wild” was a farce. That nearly crushed me.
So, what does all this mean?
1) Never get any health advice from TV. Ever.
2) If Oprah says its good, it probably is, but for goodness sake, get a second opinnion
3) Get your news from publications, or the web. Not even CNN avoids the dramatics anymore.
4) ESPN is always ok.
5) There is no such thing as liberal or conservative TV, there is just dumb and dumber.
6) Reality TV is not reality. That’s a shock huh?
7) The E-channel is a dirty habit, and is unethical. You should be ashamed.
Bud light commercials are funny. Anything to distract you from the taste.
9) Jim Rome is a genius.
10) Cheeseburgers always look better on TV than wrapped up in paper in your hands. Weird.
It’s quite easy to survive without TV. Turn it off for a couple days and see what happens…. you’ll live.
Have a great day! As Always, there are no gimmicks with Athlon Elite. WE tell it how it is.
