I’m sorry if you are British, but this is honor of the physical heroics of George Washington and the American Army on Christmas Eve as they stormed the Britisg after ROWING across the Delaware River. Enjoy!
Yes, we realize that the possibility of a Spartan warrior coming from Canada is slim to none, but we have found one! Jimmy has been the model of hard work and devotion. We don’t typically give the Spartan status to our Elite Performance Camp Athletes, but we could not ignore Jimmy this week. Not only does Jimmy train 4-5 days a week at Athlon Elite, he also is stretching on a regular basis with a semi0professional dancer. Can you imagine a left-fielder that can run, throw, hit, and do the splits… all in the great state of Kentucky. I know…. crazy!
Jimmy knows that his flexibility will dramatically increase his chance of playing at Minute Maid Park, and we are confident that he is doing the things necessary to make it there. He is also getting stronger in all areas, and has put on a solid 10 lbs.
This is a sweet cardio session that will only set you back about 35 minutes. It will be an intense 35 minutes though, I can promise you that. This workout is designed to be done at your local health club, or in your home if you have a rowing machine, stationary bike, and a place to go run. Enjoy!
Make sure you warmup with 10 minutes of light cardio and mix in some core and light plyos.
1) Row 1000m all out
2) 2 min tempo bike followed by 1 minute all out sprint (3X)
3) Row 1000m all out
4) 1 min bike tempo followed by 30 sec sprint (5x)
5) Run 1/2 mile all out
6) Don’t die.
Have a great day, and remember to buy your daughter a pony. Cheers!
This is obviously a week of rants by Athlon Elite, but this is a “secret” which must be made public.
NEVER trust research that is paid for by the company that later advertises the research to support their own pocketbook. Savvy?
I don’t care if it comes from the best doctor, at the best university, with the best peer reviewed panel on the planet… If it was funded by the people that needed the proof that their “crap” works, then I strongly suggest you pass judgment over their methods.
If they were honest, and simply said… “hey! we have great stuff and test it ourselves, come give it a try..” that would at the very least be an honest approach to sales.
Research, can and forever will, only be acceptable if it is performed by an impartial agency only searching for truth. Money, and advertising ability can never be trusted. NEVER.
A simply fantastic exercise for the hips, glutes, groin, and small muscles of the feet and ankles. This exercise is essentially a lunge with the rear leg elevated on a bench or wall. These can be done with or without dumbells in your hands to change the intensity of the training. Enjoy!
By no means am I bashing your intelligence. You have every right to have an opinion about nutrition and diet, and I applaud you for even using your brain to think about diet. I want you to use those same brain cells to think about the question I just asked you in the title of today’s post. Ok, you done thinking critically? Good.
Sharing opinions is what makes mankind great. Our ability to think, imagine, create, and inspire. Nutrition has an interesting perception as a subject, because it seemingly allows anybody to define it.
We must all try to remember that Nutrition is a science, and food is the art. These should not be confused. The properties of that food affect our body, and affect our ability to achieve certain physical attributes. The food we eat is made of molecules, which no-matter how you carve it remain the same regardless of their source. The question to ask should attempt to define what molecules are in the food, and why they are there.
This is the ultimate point of confusion, and the downfall of nutrition as a subject of facts, and the growth of it as a matter of opinion. Does one piece of meat, vegetable, or grain have different molecules then the next? This my friends, is a gray area, and thus a matter of opinion. This is why there are hundreds of supplements, diets, and other fringe information.
So, what should we do. Well, I can think of a couple of gray area professions that seem to work out just fine, but I only need to say one of them for you to understand my point: Medicine. Doctors are important people that don’t need your opinion to change the fact that they are experts. Nutrition should be the same way, but it is most certainly not the case at the moment.
Bottom line, you don’t have an opinion about why you are on anti-biotics, or why your plumber fixed your toilet do you? You trust them to do their job, and not to give you advice about other things…. like nutrition.
Trust your nutritionist. They went to school to learn this crazy subject and deserve your respect for it. With that said, if your “nutritionist” does not have an absolute minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, then run away screaming right now…. I’m serious…. RUN!
If your nutritionist couldn’t dedicate themselves to learn nutrition from a university then they have no business working with you and causing confusion in an already confusing subject.
Todd has officially been to the facility the most out of any of our members for the last three weeks. He has been putting in 5 session weeks, and doing very well. Todd has been on our metabolic growth program which mixes heavy lifting with speed and power training. This is by far our most grueling training plan, and Todd has responded with “Is that all you got?” A former wrestler, and attorney by trade, Todd knows his limits, and knows how to push them. He will push himself until he is literally laying face down in his own sweat and tears unable to move, and then begs for more.
Truly an honor to work with. I would suggest if you need legal help, you hire this badass.
Todd exemplifies the Spartan attitude this week, when will you?
