Recently we have received a number of questions about "getting big" and getting strong."

For the record, there is some overlap, but getting big and getting strong will be different pathways.  Big generally occurs with more volume (12-20+ reps per set) while strong is generally achieved by moving more weight over fewer reps (1-8 reps per set).

The next thing that you Spartans want is to go faster or further while at the same time getting stronger.  This is very difficult to achieve without some planning.  Strength and endurance training are very different metabolic pathways with some overlap.

Oh yeah, the other big question is, "how much protein do I need?"  As a general rule for athletes like you Spartans you should be looking for 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.  That means for me at around 215lbs, I should be consuming 215 grams of protein/day.  No way I can get that through my diet.

Check in with the team at Athlon Elite to get your protein supplement.  Can’t get big, strong or even recover well without it!
