First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit this site. It’s my hope that you have precisely what I need in a fitness professional so I can take this page down immediately and put you to work in the fun and rewarding coaching position I have available.  So let me tell you about me, my company and the coaching position…

My name is Ryan Joiner and I run a personal training gym called Athlon Elite located near the airport in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Building

My business is dedicated to helping people and athletes achieve fitness and performance goals through unique and well designed fitness and nutrition programs.

And business is booming!

I'm looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and energetic person to start training some of our current clients as well as help me to continue growing this unique company by.

We primarily offer personal and performance training in three different levels of service at Athlon Elite:

  • Private Personal Training- Individual, one-on-one training creating a very close and personal relationship with the client(s) ensuring them success towards their goals, whether that be to compete at a high level or simply get through life more fit and efficiently.
  • Semi-Private Personal Training- Individualized training but trained in a group up to five clients at once.  This program is used mostly by our competitive athletes, junior high through professional.  We create highly specific conditioning routines based on the clients' needs to ensure that they achieve their fitness goal and perform at their absolute best for their desired event.
  • Group Personal Training- Very fun and very intense training in a group of up to 12 clients at once.  It is a pre-designed workout system that repeats every 12 weeks intended to deliver "elite" fitness: strength, cardio-respiratory endurance, flexibility, power, speed, accuracy, balance, agility coordination and stamina.
  • However, we are always looking for ways to better deliver training and sports performance skills and there are many other methods that we've utilized and continue to on occasion.  You'll be a part of these too.

   

In all of the programs we work with men, women and teens to educate, motivate and support them in their endeavor to achieve ELITE fitness levels and perform superior to the competition (or just truly enjoy their active life)!

If you are hired for this position, you'll begin training clients in the facility right away and need to develop close and caring bonds with them and help ensure their continued compliance with the programs.  You'll also start working on learning our management system and be expected to quickly take on a leadership position.  Your work schedule would be from 1:00 to 8:00 PM daily and would include training clients, managing clients' testing and results and managing other trainers on staff.  We have very effective systems for doing this and I'll teach them to you.

I offer a very competitive wage and full benefit package and you'll have the opportunity for a raise after an initial 90-day probationary period. Tasks You’ll be Expected to Perform

* Develop Comprehensive Fitness & Performance Programs For Clients: You'll receive coaching and training on our fitness system and programs, but you'll have flexibility to incorporate your training style and knowledge.

* Tracking Client Progress: In order to ensure a client's success in our programs, you'll need to track progress, current successes and challenges, review client nutrition and exercise log worksheets and more on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. It will be your job to hold our clients accountable to their fitness/performance program to ensure the best results possible.

* Perform Fitness Evaluations: Ideally, you'll have some fitness assessment skills and can test for: body composition, girth measurements, blood pressure, heart rate and various strength and flexibility tests. You do not need previous experience, but if you do, that's a bonus.

* Coach Clients through Their Daily Programs: You'll be responsible for daily exercise sessions and keeping detailed daily progress reports on the clients your working with. If a client is having challenges throughout his/her program, you'll coach and motivate that client and make appropriate changes to ensure consistent progress.

* Demonstrate Proper Exercise Instruction: This is a big one. I need you to be able to provide proper coaching, instruction, and motivation during a client training session. You should have a working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc.) and be able to provide appropriate exercises for client’s goals. You will need to quickly learn and grasp the various exercises we prescribe and become proficient at teaching and explaining them.

* Provide Ongoing Health and Fitness Education: Our clients rely on us to service all of their fitness and performance needs. It is your job as a fitness coach to provide your clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever. You'll be provided with educational tools and resources, will be expected to study them and speak about them with your clients. We also spend time covering this in our weekly staff meetings.

Required Skills

These are the skills you must already have in order to qualify for this position:

* Good Communication Skills: You will be talking with my clients, who are VERY important to me. You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone and know how to conduct yourself professionally, and deliver clear instructions to the clients. I’ll teach you everything you need to do during a training session, but I can’t teach you manners and professionalism.

* People Skills and Personality: You must LOVE working with people! As mentioned above you must be very comfortable working with and leading both clients and other trainers. This is an exciting and fast paced fitness facility and you must be able to show our clients energy and excitement while working with them.

* Health and Fitness Education: You do not necessarily have to have a degree in Kinesiology, but you should have a working knowledge of health, fitness and performance, and most importantly an ability to quickly grasp the concepts I will teach you.  Progress toward a fitness degree is preferred.

Bonus Skills

If you have these additional skills, your resume will go right to the top of the stack (but if you don’t have these skills, you should still apply because these are not mandatory).

* Previous personal training experience (fitness studio, health club, in-home trainer, etc.)

*Sports performance knowledge/experience

* Basic nutrition knowledge

* National certification

* Kinesiology degree

* CPR Certified
